Food Labels Are Changing in 2026

Health Canada’s new Front-of-Package (FOP) nutrition symbol requirements come into effect January 1, 2026.Any prepackaged food considered high in saturated fat, sugars, and/or sodium may require a symbol on the front of the label going forward.

As a manufacturer, we’re already seeing food brands start their design updates now to avoid a last-minute rush.

A quick reminder for anyone producing packaged foods:

✅ The requirement is tied to the product’s nutritional profile, not the printer

✅ The brand owner/manufacturer is responsible for confirming eligibility

✅ Once confirmed, we can help adjust or redesign your label layout to properly incorporate the symbol without compromising brand look + feel

If you're unsure whether your products qualify, Health Canada provides guidance here:https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/food-nutrition/nutrition-labelling/front-package.html

At CETTEC Printing, we don’t determine compliance — but we’re here to support the artwork and production side so you’re ready ahead of the deadline.

If you’d like to start planning updates or need a layout review, feel free to reach out.
